Corcovado National Park

Enjoy a scenic speedboat ride from Sierpe to Corcovado, passing through a stunning riparian forest and the largest mangrove forest in Costa Rica. Along the way, we’ll share fascinating insights about this incredible ecosystem, home to unique and endangered species.

Corcovado National Park, one of Costa Rica's 32 National Parks, is located on the Osa Peninsula and safeguards the largest remaining expanse of Tropical Humid Forest on Central America's Pacific Coast. This makes it one of the region's most significant protected areas for biodiversity and conservation. Recognized as a vital international hub for Tropical Wet Forest research and ecotourism, Corcovado spans nearly 47,000 hectares and encompasses a variety of habitats, including mangrove swamps, yolillo palm forests, and cloud forests. The park is a heaven for wildlife, hosting over 400 bird species, approximately 150 amphibians and reptiles, and 140 mammals, including around 85 bat species. Visitors can marvel at vibrant flocks of Scarlet Macaws flying overhead or feeding in almond trees along the beaches. The park’s beaches also serve as nesting grounds for four species of sea turtles. Corcovado plays a crucial role in protecting endangered species such as White-lipped Peccaries, Scarlet Macaws, and the elusive Jaguar—the third-largest wild cat in the world. An estimated 30 Jaguars roam the park, underscoring its importance as a sanctuary for these magnificent creatures. This tour begins at 8:00 AM, though we can customize the departure time. We’ll start with a scenic speedboat ride from Sierpe to Corcovado, passing through a stunning riparian forest and the largest mangrove forest in Costa Rica. Along the way, we’ll share fascinating insights about this incredible ecosystem, home to unique and endangered species. After approximately 45 minutes on the river, we’ll reach La Boca (the river mouth), where we’ll transition to the open ocean and ride the waves into the vast Pacific Ocean. After an additional 40-minute journey on the ocean, we’ll arrive at Corcovado’s San Pedrillo Station, where we’ll have a wet beach landing. The adventure continues with two guided hikes, offering opportunities to observe and discover the diverse wildlife of the region. A delicious lunch will be served following the first hike. Around 2:00–2:30 PM, we will board the boat for our return journey through the mangroves, where we will continue searching for fascinating wildlife. We will arrive back in Sierpe between 4:00 and 4:30 PM, marking the conclusion of this unforgettable experience.
